Step 1 in making my own Wedding Pie Topper

So I was inspired by this website Lauren Alane to make my own wedding pie toppers. So I bought some flamingos and ribbon. I still need to add a fishing pole and put them in a nest, but here is what they look like so far.

Forgive the low quality picture, but I think you can see what I am trying to accomplish. I am really excited about this. Even Andy liked the idea, which hasn't been happening all that often lately.

I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together

Side effect of getting married that I wasn’t expecting…the stress is making me cry over every little thing! Today on the bus, the song we are all walking into (Flesh and Blood by Johnny Cash) starting playing on my IPod, I choked up and had to skip to the next song before the person next to me thought I was weird.

I only had two wedding related melt downs this weekend…so I think I am doing pretty good. One was over tables and the other was over finding a white half slip to wear under my dress (um apparently they don’t make these anymore).

Despite the two melt downs, this weekend was fairly productive. We got a dress for my mom and Lindsay’s accessories and shoes. I found out that the bra I bought from Macy’s is not going to work with my wedding dress, so I bought something else online that will hopefully work (keeping fingers crossed). Andy and I sat down and decided on the wording and order of events for the ceremony and sent that off to Brad for his input. I wore my wedding shoes for more practice and we folded all our laundry. Can’t get much better than that.

One Month and Counting

Well this is it...the final countdown (I wish I could play music on this thing…Google final countdown by the band Europe when you have a moment). We are down to a month, and yes I am feeling overwhelmed. Andy on the other hand…well let’s just say it is business as usual with him. If you didn’t know better, you would not think he was getting married in a month. I can’t complain too much, that is one of the things I love about him, the man is very even tempered.

We have asked Andy’s sister Alana and one of my dearest/closest friends Stephanie to read at the wedding. We are not quite sure what they are reading yet, but I am sure we will find something that will work. What is making this a hard task is that Andy and I don’t have any passage or story or song or anything that has meaning for us. What is important to us is to have people we care about standing up there with us. What they end up reading isn’t as big of a deal as long as it is about love, friendship, marriage, life, etc. Another issue we are running into is that we are envisioning the ceremony in different ways. I see things being more light and friendly, Andy wants things to be serious. Andy is not a humor hater, he is just worried that if it is too cutesy or funny or childish, it will take away from the seriousness of what we are doing. Look! A compromise that he and I have to work on and we aren’t even married yet.

This wedding is turning out to be the party of the year. We are already at over 100 people RSVP’d and there is still a good chunk of RSVP’s out there. I hope people have a good time.

Andy's Paintballing Adventure

Andy went paintballing for his bachelor party. Not my thing, but it looks like everyone had a great time.

The World Your Balloon, Peeping Tom for the Mother Station

So Andy is away at his Paintballing Bachelor Extravaganza this weekend. I have set up my wedding day make-up appointment and we have received or first official wedding present. I am going to practice setting up the table decorations to see if they look as good in real life as they do in my head.

HOLY SHIT THIS WEDDING IS ACTUALLY GOING TO HAPPEN?! WHERE DID THE 13 MONTHS I GAVE MYSELF TO PLAN EVERYTHING GO?

Okay, blog I am going to be completely honest with you. I am starting to freak out. For the most part, I am still able to keep it all together, but if I stop and let myself think about the wedding, I can feel my pulse quicken and my stomach starts to feel like someone is doing the jitterbug in there. It is not cold feet. No, in fact, watching Andy through this wedding process has made me realize more than ever, that I am picking the right person. I am nervous because (and it pains me to say this because it makes me sound like every other bride out there) I want my wedding to be perfect, well as close to perfect as it can possibly be. I know this means I am setting myself up for failure, but I can’t help it.

Currently my biggest worry is that I don’t offend anyone or hurt somebody’s feelings. Andy and I have put a lot of thought into our wedding. We chose the people who are helping us for very specific reasons. We are keeping our ceremony short so that our friends and family can enjoy the reception. I don’t want anyone to feel like we are leaving them out of the planning process or hiding things from them. Also, if too many people get involved then that adds to the stress of the whole thing. So far this has been my least favorite part of getting married; worrying about how other people feel or what they are going to think.

What helps me get over the stress and worry is to think about the wedding itself because by that time all this planning and stress will have paid off. I think about sharing the memories with my family and friends and that is what helps me stay excited and keeps me from eloping…plus I am really looking forward to being absolutely drop dead gorgeous for one day!

My Wedding Shoes

My friend Kat met me downtown at the Fluevog store to help me buy my wedding shoes. Choosing my shoes has been causing me a little anxiety because, well I usually don't care too much about shoes. I knew these shoes were going to have to be pretty fancy, which is not usually my style. So after months of painstaking internet research, I give you my wedding shoes...

The green matches Lindsay's dress perfectly (if we ever get it from David's Bridal) and they are amazingly comfortable. They cost almost exactly double the amount of my dress, which cracks me up. I figure it is a good investment because I can defintely wear the shoes again (at least that is what I am telling myself).

I really do love them.

Ladies Luau

Ladies Luau was a success! It was exactly what I wanted. Kate and Lindsay did a fantastic job on the decorations. It was PERFECT!
